The Old Malt Cask - Port Ellen 1976 Aged 25 Years

Port Ellen 25 Years Old Douglas Laing Old Malt Cask 1976 is a rare drop from the cult distillery Port Ellen, which closed in 1983 and is now one of the most sought-after whiskies in the world. The whisky was distilled in March 1976 and matured for 25 years. It was bottled in April 2001 by renowned independent bottler Douglas Laing as part of the Old Malt Cask series. Port Ellen on Islay was established in the 1820s. At first it operated solely as a malt mill but a few years later it was developed into a distillery. Port Ellen was mothballed in 1983, although its malting is still in operation to this day and supplies all other Islay distilleries.
