FAQs

How does an online whisky auction work?

Individual sellers ship bottles that they wish to sell at auction to our Warehouse in Melbourne. Once they have been authenticated by our experienced team, photographs are taken and the bottles are listed on the website in the next available auction. Malt Social hosts whisky auctions monthly, during which registered users across Australia can bid on bottles online. The highest bidder at the close of the auction is then notified by email and asked for payment within 7 days. The seller receives payment within 21 days of the end of the auction.

How much is my whisky worth?

The value of a bottle of whisky is constantly fluctuating according to supply and demand. Malt Social can provide a valuation according to the latest market trends. If you would like a free, no-obligation valuation, please contact us via email.

What fees are involved for selling whisky?

The Malt Social selling fees are as follows :

 – There is a $15 administration fee for all auction entrants
 – If you wish to place a reserve price on a bottle, there is a $10 fee per bottle
